WHAT IS IT?
Our community-driven DIY festival is truly a labor of love! As we grow, maintaining accessibility remains at the heart of who we are. The Flowers for ZAP program reserves a limited number of free or discounted tickets for individuals from marginalized communities facing structural barriers, while inviting those with the means to donate. Your generosity directly ensures everyone can experience the magic of our festival, regardless of financial circumstances. We believe the DMV's vibrant dance and punk community should be accessible to all – especially those who bring valuable perspectives but might be tight on funds.
HOW IT WORKS
Flowers for ZAP! is powered by community support through multiple channels:
- $10 from every ticket sold goes directly to the program
- Additional contributions can be made by purchasing donor passes, adding a donation at ticket checkout, or visiting the Go Fund Me page.
WHO IT'S FORThis program offers assistance to reduce barriers to attendance, including help with ticket costs, supplies, meals, and time off work. We will be prioritizing support for marginalized communities, especially people of color and trans individuals, but encourage anyone experiencing economic hardship to apply.
Important: If you can comfortably afford a ticket, please leave these opportunities for those who cannot. Your consideration helps ensure that resources reach those who need them most.
WHAT'S COVEREDRecipients receive some or all of these benefits:
- Festival admission
- ZAP to Table meal plan
- Camping / supplies support
- Support with transportation logistics
- A reserved bunk space in the XUNTXABIN hosted by FRANXX (XUNT, DC), a sanctuary for our trans-identifying friends

OUR STORY
Inspired by the proven success of the Honcho Campout festival’s Queer Fam Fund (QFF), ZAP co-director Joyce Lim sought to establish the Flowers for ZAP! initiative to break down barriers and enrich the festival community. The QFF at Honcho Campout has demonstrated a powerful model for inclusion by prioritizing the joy, inclusion, and communal care of Black, Indigenous, people of color, and people of trans experience, removing financial and cultural barriers that might otherwise prevent marginalized individuals from attending and participating fully in the festival experience.
Flowers for ZAP! adopts this model, aiming to foster a more diverse, accessible, and welcoming environment at ZAP events. By drawing on the community-driven approach and outreach strategies pioneered by Honcho’s QFF, Flowers for ZAP! seeks to cultivate the same sense of belonging and empowerment, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or financial means, can share in the festival’s creative and communal spirit. This approach has already shown transformative impact in other communities, making it a promising foundation for ZAP’s ongoing commitment to radical inclusivity and cultural enrichment.
